Maps app battery consumption

Would location services for my HTC weather widget be the cause for the maps app to consume what seems to be excessive battery?

I have location services on, but never have I opened the maps app or even used a website that would need to use maps.
Only reason I'm not shrugging this off is because it's been doing this all week even after restarting the phone.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Yeah, I believe location services being used shows up as "maps" in battery stats. Even though it's 20% of all your battery use, if you've only burned 16% of the battery in 4 hours it doesn't seem like an issue.

Yea you're right. Not much of an issue because it's not draining a lot. Just thought I'd ask because I wasn't sure if it was even supposed to be there.

Kill that weather app and get a new one from the market.
Also manually entering a default location, and unsetting "Update my location in real time" seems to help.

Can't find one in the market that I prefer over the one I'm using Unfortionatly
