Hello, folks.

Looking to buy my first smartwatch, and I have a question regarding working out.

I have a Fold 3, with a huge tank-like case.

I don't take it with me to go on walks/jogs, nor the gym.

If I were to buy the Bluetooth ONLY version of the W4, install Maps, (if it isn't already), or use some other mapping/pace application, go out for some exercise, leave my phone at home...

Will it have kept track of my e exercise, path, pace, etc ?

Can it do that without the phone or its own LTE connection?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Take care,
Lou

It is my understanding that yes, it will still track your map data but won't actually show the map until you get back and connect with your phone. I've actually never tested it as I always carry my S21U with me when I'm running. But it is meant to be able to track your workouts and location so long as you have location on in your settings and Samsung Health had the permission granted.

Yes, the gps will track your location. You can download music to the watch, pair with Bluetooth headphones and you'll be good to go there too

GPS will work without LTE. If you track your run, you'll see the map when you connect back to your phone. I know because I sometimes jog with mobile data turned off on my watch and it still works.

As a fellow no-phone jogger, I'll just add that I really like LTE for the notifications and music/podcast streaming. But you can just download to Spotify or YouTube Music so not the biggest deal.
