March Update for the Nexus 5X: Not Just A Security Patch

My wife got the OTA on her phone the other day. She had major lag and other issues in the camera that was frustrating her, and she hasn't yet seen any of those same issues since the update. Hopefully it stays that way.

Nothing on T-Mobile yet, but the only problem I am having is this weird thing with the camera when I try to mobile deposit a check. When I try to capture a picture of the check moving the phone left makes it go right and up is down making it nearly impossible to square it up and snap the picture. Google says its the banks app that's the problem and the bank says it's the phone. My other phones work fine with the same app and always have.

I think in your case both Google and the app developers are right. I remember reading in an article where it explained that Google changed something in the camera APIs and if developers didn't update their apps to reflect the change, issues like the one you're having would arise. I'd do a quick Google search and I'm sure you'll find info on the issue you're having.

It's the bank's app problem and the phone's problem. Google and LG had to do something weird with the camera sensor so that it's basically upside down (phone's problem), but if your bank is using the newest camera API, then the orientation is automatically corrected for (bank's problem). Complain to your bank and ask them to update to the newest camera API.

Does anyone with the update notice if the video is more stable? This is one feature (video stabilization) that has kept me from getting this phone. Videos look too jumpy.

No difference there. Too bad since the Moto x pure edition has amazing stabilization. 6p is a little better but not much.

Recently got the update, I'm in N.Ireland, Belfast. Will have a play about with it to see if I see any changes, On first use it does seem snappier, I'm with O2 btw.

Ireland here. I am on Three... hope it comes soon, so i can feel i have a phone that's not 4 or 5 years old...

Arizona on FI... Got it today. Phone seems faster, seems to work well. We'll see how it looks over the next few days.

Would love to know when I'm getting this update. Have had the phone since early February. No March update has come through. Anybody got timing on this? I'm having issues and hoping this update dissuades me from going back to big red V.

Edit; forgot to say I'm on Google's Project Fi

The updates are on a staggered roll out over the course of the month. I've gotten updates in the first few days. I've gotten updates as far out as 20 days from release. I have not detected a pattern.

(NB I have two Nexus handsets and accounts on Project Fi, T-Mobile, & Verizon. Carrier does not make a difference.)
