Marshmallow on Verizon SUCKS

Just updated to Marshmallow and now my GPS is useless, both Waze & Google gps. I have been searching all weekend and from what I can see, google has know about this since Oct and hasn't fixed it. Even email attachments download super slow. Its is ridiculous that Google isn't all over this issue!!
Just one more reason to miss my Blackberry Z30!!!!!!

I used my GPS twice last week with no issues.
I have had no problems with email, WiFi, or none of the other issues people have mentioned.

My only issue was with themes. A factory reset, which is generally recommended after an OS update if you experience problems, fix it.

Did you perform a factory reset?
 
A Factory reset? So basically you're saying I need to wipe the device and start from scratch again? I will need to reload all my app, set up emails and completely step up my phone again? Thats is insane!!

It sounds to me that you haven't taken the time to get over the learning curve of going from one OS to another.
No offense, but you're doing quite a bit of whining, and being an IT person, I don't have the patience to assist someone who whines like this instead of trying to learn and actually asking for help.

Maybe you should calm down.
 
Uhm, that's hilarious, I've updated to the Note 5 from my Z30 (this is my first time on Android) and I would not go back to BlackBerry or the Z30 even if you paid me. This phone is miles better and faster and the integration of everything is so much better so I really don't know why you would want to go back to the ancient Z30 loll.
P.s I'm still on Lollipop 5.1.1 though.
 
I only had issues with some Amazon preinstalled apps, but my GPS is working fine as well. A factory reset is definitely in the cards, but before you blow a gasket, you CAN back up your apps/settings with Smart Switch (free software from Samsung) and be back in business in 10 minutes. Besides, I usually take advantage of the OS updates to wipe everything and start from scratch with apps, that way I get rid of stuff I haven't used in a while. Hope your day goes better.
 
It sounds to me that you have an app issue. In all my experience with Android 99.9% of the issues that cause problems for most is app problems not the OS. I would recommend uninstalling any non essential apps ,try clearing cache too. I have had my note 5 for a while and never experienced any of the problems my friends do because I consistently restart my phone once a week. Clear my cache after any major update and or do a factory reset... Of which is pretty much a breeze these days if you have a backup program... And just make sure you don't download crap. Along with no porn Lol jk.

I have MM, did a factory restore after installation, and zero issues. OP, take a couple of hours and wipe your device and see what happens - it won't take that long but it might for you to get it back the way you want it. We are all here to help but you have to help yourself first.
 
Your link is about specific issues with the Nexus 5 on version 6.0. Other than devices affected by the hardware flaw with the GPS antenna, 6.0.1 has fixed this issue. People tacking on that report with errors from other phones aren't helping by keeping that particular issue number open.

I don't have any advice on how to fix your issue (and I certainly believe you when you say it's happening) but it needs addressed through Verizon first, and they can then take it up with Samsung if enough users are having a problem. Samsung can then see if it's something they need to address or if there's something Google needs to do.
 
Since with any Android OS upgrade a factory reset is the best route I would suggest you use the information above to make it as painless as possible. In addition, I take screen shots of all of my menu screens and menu folders so I can put everything back in my preferred location. These shots are also a visual confirmation of what was in fact loaded on the phone before the factory reset.

You should do a factory reset after any major OS update. That goes for iOS too.

Got the MM update when it was released by Verizon. There were annoying issues after the update. I realized I was spending more time researching "how to fix" this or that than I would spend to doing a factory reset. Yes it can be a nuisance but after a few hours I was done. The phone has run flawlessly.
As many others have suggested, the factory reset is the way to go.

Does smart switch restore app settings? Setting up each app and widget as before takes hours. I've never been able to finish at one sitting so for weeks every time I use an app for the first time I have to try to remember how I had it set up and hope the new version works as well. A factory reset IS a big deal. That said I've always found a cache clear and a couple of restarts fixes problems from updates. I've never lost any important functions like gps though

BTW.. if u are going to do a factory reset anyway why not do it before AND after?
 
for me the notifications are basically hosed and the mobile hotspot does not work. other than that, its fine. nothing to write home about...

There are many to whom install major updates, such as MM, and do not do Factory Reset, and have no issues. However, there are many, to whom have issues, and Full Factory Resets fix the issue.

I, as a rule, ALWAYS do a factory reset after each major upgrade....I don't wait for problems to present themselves, I just do it...but that's me!

I've got a Note 4 that I'm not using, I use Smart Switch on both my Note 5 an 4. So, I send all data from my note 5 to my note 4...settings, apps, data etc. And then once I do the Reset, I simply install Smart Switch on the phone I reset, then send the backed up data from the other phone, back to the phone...boom, everything back...text messages, call list...everything!

Can I still do this if my note 4 has no Sims card? I can still use it with my WiFi on? It just seems much easier than hooking my phone to a computer to back up.
