I'm trying to add music to my captivate and I put the phone in mass storage phone and it still doesn't pop up on my computer. It has worked before, but since I rooted it, i can no longer access whats on my phone (quite a reversal to what rooting is meant to do).

Any help?

When you connect with the USB cable, you need to pull down the status bar on the phone and tell it to connect.

This is a security feature to keep it from opening itself up to the file system every time you plug it in. Most the time I plug it in I am just charging it. Apparently Samsung built the connection to account for that.

Rooting should have nothing to do with it. You installed an update.zip file -

What OS are you using?

I'm having the same issue after rooting. Just downloaded the drivers from Samsung but I'm going to try Kies first in case I want to tether.

Rooting shouldn't matter, mine's rooted with no issues. Make sure USB debugging is off, and connection mode is on mass storage or ask on connect. Plug usb cable in, tap mass storage if you set ask on connect, then drag notification bar down and tap 'mount filesystem'.

I was doing that but my PC didn't see it. The drivers were listed as not working in device manager, sometimes under USB other times under other/unknown device. I also had a odd one I've never seen under network adapter that wouldn't remove no matter how many times I tried. I installed Kies and rebooted and it worked, but I did switch to a USB port on my tower so that may have been it as well.

It may not be from the phone but the driver listed under Network adapters as not working is: isatap.{573BA5B0-80EF-49C1-A7A4-9723135B77DF} I'm going to do a Google search on it now but if anyone knows what that is and why it won't remove please help me.
