short story ....my signal is horrible im in a 4g area...so the techs at verizon sent me a new sim card , again horrible signal ...so next step before replacing the phone is master reset ...
do i have to unroot my phone to do a master reset on my nexus ?
thanks ....

No you don't you can try from settings....security. its not going to help anything though. A master reset is a fix all for the vzw techs. All it does it get you off their back for the time being. Don't wipe for the techs sake. Just say to already performed the factory reset when they ask. They won't know the difference. But if you plan on sending the phone back...yeah unroot and re lock

This.

I beat them to the punch whenever I call them....yes, I've already pulled the battery.....yes, I've already done a master reset....yes, I have the latest firmware. I try not to be a dick about it but I want them to know that I know what I'm doing and I've already done even more troubleshooting than they offer.

Yes the tech is calling on Monday .....I shouldn't let them do it over the phone ?
They told me that's the steps to take before they can send me a new phone

Thougt about what u guys said ...and im gonna do.it that way ...
Tell them i did it and its still the same ....get me a new phone

Yeah just go that route. Remember what SOTK said. I do the exact same thing. After actually doing what they said 1 time... I'll never do it again. They won't know the difference when they get the device back anyways. Back when I had my Thunderbolt, I sent it back s-off and I didn't hear a thing about it. They don't have the time to check all of the phones that get sent back on warranty and such.
