Probably the exposure, engadget covers a lot more than just android. I don't think it's a big deal really, the info that needed to get out has gotten out.
Step up your game? Man, cut them some slack! They didn't have a double-wide trailer, official blog status, or nearly as many guys or equipment on the ground and they still managed to churn out some great CES content.
