I searched the previous battery life threads and saw a lot of over the top recommendations for how to deal with it. I wanted to post a very simple tip that has taken me from 1/2 day battery life to 2 days (or more) with more than one phone using Gingerbread: disable Bluetooth when not in use.
For example if I disable Bluetooth before going to bed with a full charge, I'll have between 90-98% left the next morning. This is with NO OTHER CHANGES, everything else is enabled (Wi-Fi, GPS, data, etc.).
If I forget and leave Bluetooth on, I'll be in the 60-70% range the next morning.
I remain convinced there's a bug (or two) with the Bluetooth implementation in Gingerbread. I've seen this issue affect multiple GB ROMs for the Optimus V as well as the HTC EVO 4G (stock and aftermarket).
Please note I'm talking about *idle* battery usage (i.e. the phone's not actually in use). Usage obviously has a huge effect on battery life but for me it's really important the phone can last a full day with minimal usage.
EDIT: Pictures! Here's the OV with GB and "stock" settings:
Here's the same OV, but with Bluetooh off:
