I have a galaxy note 5. It used to be where I could send a text message as long as I wanted. Once it got too long it would say converting to mms. And would continue to allow me to type. Now suddenly in 2018 it stops me from writing and puts up a "Maximum number of characters reached" sign.
What's up with that?!? Are we going backwards in technology? We can do less now than we could 3 years ago?

Welcome to Android Central! Open you messaging app and go to its settings. Is there a setting there to convert long SMS texts to MMS automatically?

Are you otherwise able to send MMS (e.g., sending photos via the messaging app)?

And do you have a mobile data connection? (MMS doesn't go the same route as SMS.)
