MAXX lacks respect?

NEVER!! the back of this phone was meant to be stickered up.

I think customization can be done very well, or very poorly. Not sure if you're familiar with the commercial he's referring to, but it's (IMO) hilarious.

The one thing that keeps the Droid Maxx from being the best Android phone you can buy is that you have to wait for Verizon to update it.
I don't give a crap about less ppi or screen size. I do like on-screen buttons, but I can deal with that. The Moto X software + an extra day or so of battery is something you can not overlook. If I were a Verizon customer, it would be my phone.

I can see how you would feel that way based on past update history with Verizon. However that holds no water anymore the moto x and droid lone have been the quickest with updates even with Verizon. The Verizon moto x got 4.4 before anyone. And the droid line should have it in the coming weeks. Doesn't seem like a problem anymore.

I wonder if the lack of respect also stems from the Maxx not having much flair. It looks very plain. I like it, but not many others do.
It looks like a plain black slab. It doesn't stand out enough. I wonder if it would garner more attention and respect if Motorola and/or Verizon added some small design touches to make it more visually appealing to more people.

I actually liked the red backing on the Droid Ultra. I wonder why the Maxx didn't get that treatment. I was kinda hoping that the Maxx would have some brushed metal, being robotic themed and all. A dark gunmetal frame would have been awesome.

Sure, I don't really care what people think of my phone, but I just hope that it gets enough respect (or more importantly, demand) for Verizon/Motorola to keep on making the Maxx because my next phone will most likely be a Maxx again.

Um have you seen the back? The Kevlar back is sweet!

The Maxx has a dev ed with an unlockable bootloader
thanks, that is good to know but it looks like it is OOS and is $250 more than the $400 I paid for the Moto X. The battery and wireless charging are quite impressive, though, and if I hadn't gotten the Cyber Monday Moto X deal, the Droid Maxx would be a great deal. Hopefully it will get kitkat soon.

I also don't see it mentioned in many battery benchmarks, even though something like the G2 or One Max may be.

AnandTech just put up the Nexus 5 review, and they used a Droid RAZR Maxx HD in a battery comparison chart, but not the Maxx. Perhaps fewer reviewers were given a review unit this time around? Just odd. I wonder how some reviewers select which phones to use to compare battery life, as it seems to be inconsistent even among multiple charts in the same review.

I agree. The DROID, Maxx, x, HD, etc... Has ran it's course, but Verizon accomplished everything it wanted to with that name. Next generation needs a new fresh name. I love my DROID Maxx though!

What did Verizon accomplish with the Droid name? Applying the answer to that question, Apple should change the name of the iPhone and Samsung change the name of the Galaxy line since they've also accomplished everything they wanted to with those names, right? How about the Ford Mustang? Time for a name change?
