MAXX lacks respect?

I've had my share of issues with the Maxx but nothing so severe that I would give up this phone. I've had thoughts due to notification glitches and Bluetooth static but in the end all day battery life no matter the usage holds me. Plus, what you said above also does. This is why I didn't rip on the device too much in my contribution to the "Ambassador Device Guide". All in all the phone isnt without issues but find me a piece of technology that is.

Don't want to hijack this thread, but was hoping someone with more technical knowledge could respond. Is it feasible that any Verion Moto X ROM could be used or easily converted to be used on the Droid Maxx HD? If there had to be some conversion involved, do you think that could be done my a properly designed app or Xposed Framework Mod?

Now, back on topic. I agree with everything the OP has said and have also thought the Maxx has a lot going for it. However, I am concerned about Google, Verizon's, and 3rd Party Developer Support.

I would love the larger screen of the Maxx, but the battery life would be less of an issue for me, since the X already has good battery life and, I am rarely, if ever, unable to charge my phone within a 12-16 hour period.

I don't flash my phone or root and rom continuously, but I like to have options to get updates, without having to wait or hope that the carriers and OEMs will allow it.

It's more important for me than awesome battery life or a bigger screen. Since the X is Google's baby and available on more carriers, I am concerned it may receive updates long after the Maxx.

What have been your issues with the notifications? I've found the notifications, particularly the new Active Notification System as a whole, to work really without any problems, and I think it is one of the best features to land on any smartphone in some time.

I've had issues when my phone is disconnected from Bluetooth (such as my car or headset) all notification sounds such as Email and Messaging would cease to work until I rebooted. Someone recommended it was the TextFree application but that wasn't it. However, so far so good right now so hopefully it doesn't mess up again.

If you love the phone like any Maxx owner does, why do you care if it gets "respect"?

Enjoy your phone and snicker at all the fools who pass up what is probably the best android device available today...

I agree ... I don't "care" I just find it interesting why the maxx doesn't get much fanfare ... I would buy it again given what's out there right now.

I just wonder if the Google branding of X as hasn't helped and shows that indeed a "Google phone" isn't more a selling factor than I definitely previously thought. Makes me wonder if we aren't heading towards a more friendly VZW-Google world considering the VZW ties to legacy Motorola Mobility.

At the end its s choice/preference, just trying to figure out what drives folks & media towards a hype ...

Viva la Maxx

This is actually 100% wrong. If the general public thinks any Android phone is a "Droid" then Verizon has completely failed in their marketing. It means that people are walking into AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile and getting themselves a "Droid" Verizon has done nothing at all to make their Droid line seem special or better than any other Android device, which is why, IMHO the latest Droid lineup doesn't get much love even though they are phenomenal devices.

I have a Nexus 5 on the way (due to the price-off contract) but if I had the opportunity to pick up a Maxx on a carrier other than Verizon, I would jump all over it. I had the Original Razr Maxx and absolutely LOVED it.

It's always funny to me how EVERYONE comments about battery life on their phones. That tells me one thing......it's always a concern! But not with the Maxx line of devices. Like someone else said, you have to love a device where you can leave every setting on, sync, notifications, Google Now, take video, pictures, catch up on social networking, make voice calls, send texts, hangouts, listen to music, etc.. and STILL last all day. No other phone can do that. If you want other phones to last all day, you have to not have a phone. You have to have a slab that's crippled and handicapped and can't bring you the full experience.

I WISH the Nexus 5 had the battery the Maxx has.

Exactly.
Those are now generic trademarks(which are a trademark lawyers's most feared words) and is exactly what happened to Verizon's Droid(technically it's not exactly what happened since Verizon doesn't own the trademark, but the principal is the same) Verizon failed. Google won, but Verizon failed.

I'm not sure I agree. At the time Droid branding started, the iPhone was growing like crazy exclusively on ATT, Android was nowhere basically on T-Mobile only, and Verizon's Droid branding with the OG Droid launched Android in a big way. I think it did exactly what Verizon needed it to do - get a smartphone platform that could compete with the iPhone.

I'm not sure if those three examples I gave are in the same boat as "aspirin".

It definitely played a huge part in launching Android, which was great for Google. Android arguably wouldn't be where it is right now if not for the OG Droid. But it didn't do what Verizon needed, it did what Android needed. Verizon spent tons of money licensing "Droid" for their specific lineup, but now people are walking in to AT&T and asking for a "Samsung Droid" which isn't at all what Verizon wanted. And now that Verizon has a Droid lineup that should be mentioned among the best available Android phones, no one is mentioning them there, partly, IMHO, because to the general population any Android phone is a Droid, and there is nothing special about Verizon's, and that is definitely not what Verizon paid for. For Verizon to have succeeded, any time someone hears the word "Droid", they should be heading into their local Verizon store and looking at the Ultra, Maxx and Mini.

Kleenex definitely is. Colgate probably isn't, Coke is close. Everyone I know refers to any kind of cola as Coke. Whether its Pepsi, or something local, its all Coke.

The one thing that keeps the Droid Maxx from being the best Android phone you can buy is that you have to wait for Verizon to update it.

I don't give a crap about less ppi or screen size. I do like on-screen buttons, but I can deal with that. The Moto X software + an extra day or so of battery is something you can not overlook. If I were a Verizon customer, it would be my phone.

Well Jerry has just made me feel great about my phone. :D

As someone who was on Blackberry for ever I wanted to try Android. I was tired of "sideloading" apps etc. I bought a Nexus 7 WIFI and instantly fell in love with it. I searched and read everything there was on the X and the Maxx. I bought the Maxx. My poor Z10 sits on the desk as a nice paper weight. Battery Moto Assist and everything else works perfect. I love the MAXX. I bought a LTE Samsung tab 2 10.1 and I do not like the Sammy version of Android near as much as I like the MAXX version. Last Moto I had was a Krazor. The one fail is the VZW and their slow update schedule.

I believe CNet lists it as the best Verizon Phone. I just wish Verizon didn't have their meddling fingers in my phone. Small price to pay though for a superb device..

I totally agree with everything you said. Why have a phone if you have to turn off all your features? Last week, for the first time, I did not charge my battery overnight. Grant it, I was fairly busy that weekend and the phone did not have to work all that hard, but I still had 16 percent of my battery after 36 hours of light to moderate use, without turning off any features, which included about four hours of screen time. My old Rezound would have been dead after four hours of screen time.

I LOVE my Maxx. I have zero regrets about buying it. I wish the camera had extra settings, but the update sure did make the quality of the pictures better. I picked this phone for the battery and not only did I get an amazing battery but a smooth running phone that works great!

Here we call coca-cola coke. Everything else is called by it's name or just pop.

I don't get the disrespect for the Maxx. It's a wonderful phone and I'm really glad I chose it. I can't understand why anyone would choose a Moto X over a Maxx.

After talking with a coworker who plans to go with the Moto X, I can say for her it's all about the customization. being able to put her own style, engraving, and even bootup animation, she's much more interested in that than yet another black slab phone with very little personality.

Personally, I'm more about a phone that says very little while putting all my own personality in and outside the phone (stickers bitches).
