I just bought the Galaxy Nexus and it's by far one of the best phone I've ever used. I'm proud to have joined Android ranks.

But I was wondering ... When I touch the multitasking icon and I see multiple apps, are theses apps "running" (and drainning battery) ? Or are they in "sleep" mode and not doing anything like in iOS ?

Thank you very much !

They're more than likely cached in RAM if you haven't actually opened them into the foreground for use recently. Android will handle them properly in almost all cases.

From that alone you can't tell either way. They may be cached, they may be apps that are working in the background, if the later you can swipe to close it if you no longer need it to do whatever its doing.

I close apps mainly to recover memory and less so for battery as most apps unless misbehaving (excessive wakelocks etc) won't drain your battery too much.

My 2 cents worth,
Dennis
