Media control question

I'm rather interested in purchasing one of these to pair with my note 4, but one question will sink or swim my ambitions. I like to go for several hour long walks every day, and while waking, I like to listen to audio books. I know the fit media controller will work with the stock media player, as well as Pandora and its ilk, but is it compatible with something like MortPlayer for listening to audio books? Also, would it work with a screen off YouTube player like viral popup? Podcast apps like stitcher? Trying to learn how versatile it is.

I would imagine Fit will work with anything playing at that time. You can also look in to the Gear Fit or the Gear Neo.
