Media Dock Brightness

Used my X for an alarm last night with it in the media dock.....found it too bright though. Even choosing the dim option, it put of to much light for me. Is there any way to reconfigure the dim icon (its on the left side like 3rd icon down) to have the screen on or off....or even to dim the screen even more?

This is strange because the dimmer button usually dims the screen almost all the way off, I can only see a very dim view of the screen, if the screen was any dimmer it will be off.

Mine works like this also...but that is still to bright for me (yeah I need to have it really dark in the room). Would like a way to turn the brightness down even more or off, with tapping the screen bringing it on for a few seconds if I want to check the display in the middle of the night.
Any apps/settings that can do this?

Just hit the X on the screen and it will take you out of dock mode. It will then show the normal screen in landscape. Then after your preset display off time the screen will go off as if you were not connected to the dock. Or just press the power button to turn off the display.
