Media hub is pretty good. It came in handy when I had long trips so I was able to purchase and download a tv show for 2 bucks. Problem is I now realize I cannot view these purchased videos on anything but the phone. It cannot be streamed and there is no tv out on the epic. I find this to be ridiculous.

there's only a TV out by a 3.5mm Jack to the tvs. its a 3.5 km jack that plugs into your phone and then it had a splitter to plug into the tv like an n64 (3 cables - red yellow white)
sorry I can't think of the name.

I don't think dlna will play it though.

I also heard if you have a Samsung tv or laptop you can authorize 5 devices to play it

You obviously don't have a clue what you are talking about. There is no TV out.

Wow sad to see someone that's using an android phone but doesn't know how to even use google, tsk tsk, and he does have a clue what he's talking about, Galaxy S phone's support Video out via the 3.5 jack, The one you thought was just a headphone jack, you can buy a 3.5mm to RCA video out cable. Next time at least do a Google search before telling someone who was trying to help that he doesn't have a clue, look at his sig, he's rooted his phone and is running a custom Kernal jeez

If anybody has gotten the video out through the 3.5mm jack to actually work on the Epic, please post a video on youtube. And not just the OS having the software option....

You sir are that person since you don't even know that the epic 4g lacks that feaure. Next time you should google first because I doubt you even have this phone. Rofl

No dlna does not work and those videos do not show in the share list.

No one will get it to work because the feature does not exist. They have already confirmed that phone lacks the hardware for it on the cdma versions. The verizon phone also does not have the feaure.

I know. I was just trying to avoid the never ending argument over this by simply saying "prove it"

Here is your proof that the 3.5mm jack option does not work with the EPIC 4G, it is not compatible with this data cable.

Galaxy S 3.5mm to RCA TV out cable | Samsung Mobile

Does anyone know of any way you can DLNA to an older DLP Samsung TV? (6 Series)

The only way is to use another device. I used it before with the Xbox but I found it to be pointless since I also needed my PC. It is really disappointing that there is no TV out.

Dlna is just a certification that a device on the same network will be able to share media with another dlna certified device. It has nothing to do with TV out. Epic 4g is dlna certified which means it can share media with another dlna device on the same network like a dlna HDTV

Understood, but you could stream media "out" to an HDTV or PC. I have a DLNA certifed TV, so I should have no need for a TV out cable, right? The Epic will stream directly to it.

Does anyone know if there is DRM restriction for content DL from the media hub? If you are DLNA streaming does it matter since the media is not actually "leaving" the authorized device, just being "boardcasted" to a monitor.

If you've dealt with DLNA, you'll find that just because two pieces of DLNA equipment are connected, and that you can play some files, it does not mean you can play ALL files. This is due to the "displaying" equipment not being able to process the file type the "sharing" equipment is sending. Although this is streaming, I would take this "unrecognized file type" error to mean that the file is not being processed to a common file type prior to attempting to display.

However, to answer your question, you should be able to stream saved files from your phone to your tv via DLNA, assuming it is in a format they both understand. You will NOT be able to stream anything that your phone is streaming, such as Youtube.

I have better luck streaming items from my PC to my Samsung LN52A850 LCD when I go through Media Extender on the XBox, way more than I do using DLNA and Samsung MediaShare.
