I've been having this issue for a while. I'll be listening to music when all of a sudden the media player, along with other apps that I'm actually NOT using, gets killed by the phone (I'm not running an app killer). I've tried looking on the phone and through the forums to find out how to keep this from happening, but so far have found nothing. Thoughts?

Have you installed a custom ROM or kernel? What 3rd party apps have you installed?

No custom ROM, phone is rooted, using Launcher Pro, and the only 3rd party app I've installed is Angry Birds.

I'm getting the same thing. anytime my screen locks it closes any apps that are running... it's a bit annoying since I got a 30 sec time out on my screen to save battery. I don't remember modifying any setting to kill apps once the screen goes to sleep.

I figured it out just now... do you guys have super manager installed? or something similar where it manages your memory? if you have super manager installed (I did because I didn't want to have to pay for an app to rename the bing search apk), go into the program and go to "setting" and then go down to "Auto Memory Cleanup" and make sure that "Enable Auto Cleanup" is NOT checked.

or... you could just uninstall the program....

if you don't have super manager installed, make sure that one of your other programs aren't killing off processes when you lock your screen, like ATK.
