Media Sharing

Just curious... On my Evo 3D I was able to share all my music pictures and videos via wifi with my Sony Google tv blu ray player without any problems it was real easy. With this Evo it doesn't even recognize it at all. Luckily I have an Internet ready tv that I can also share media with a Sony 55ex7200 and when I try to share videos that way I get an error saying the content cannot be played. Is there a way around this or is HTC trying to push the media link product you have to buy from sprint? Oh yea and I've also tried the media share app it takes forever to update and I can never find the actual files.
