AC Question

Hi,

I have a Nexus 5, Lollipop 5.1.1. Build LMY48M. Today suddenly the Menu orientation of my phone changed to Vertical one with a scroll bar on right side and the "Search App" bar at the top.

Earlier it was a normal left-right swipe menu. Now it is a vertical up/down scrolling menu. I don't know how it changed. There was no software update or anything.

Can anyone tell me how this happened? And is there a setting to switch back to the original left/right swipe.

Welcome to Android Central! I notice this as well. It was probably included in a Google Play Services update. The top row appears to be recently or commonly used apps.

If you don't like it, you can always install a 3rd party launcher, like Nova.

Got the same today after the Google App was updated. I'm running Android 5.1 build LMY47I.
Changing launcher settings merely turns the suggestions off, but doesn't change the app drawer orientation.
Will uninstalling the update somehow help? Or do I just have to get used to this?

Same orientation change noticed today on Moto X (2gen) 5.1 Build LPE23.32-25-5 Can't seem to undo it and don't like it. Any suggestions for reverting to old left/right swiping action would be welcome.

Also encountering screen flickering when unlocking phone--wonder if some bug has been installed along with new "feature."

I have Moto G 3rd gen and my phone just turned to vertical orientation after i updated like 5-6 apps, i don't know which ones, but i tried what you said and it does not worked for me :(

Hi folks, this drawer orientation change is one of the upcoming feature from the Android Marshmallow update. As you guys may know the Marshmellow update is coming next month.Google may be using the Google play services to slowly install the new updates part by part instead of pushing everything g to everyone at the same time. If you have a plan to upgrade to Marshmallow I think it's better get used to the new drawer. Else you have to stop the Google Play Services update, which is not a good idea.

I have a Nexus 5 and the update is for the upcoming marshmallow coming out in a few weeks. They have mentioned that they are breaking down the updates unlike apple. So if you planning on upgrading, start getting used to new features.
