Messages Blank Screen after Verizon Update

Seems like the update went fine. Everything is working well except for Samsung's Messages app. Occasionally when I pull up a thread, it comes up blank. I am using Material Dark theme but doubt that has anything to do with the problem. I cleared partition but that didn't help. When I cleared the cache in the Messages' app settings, that seemed to fix it. However, it still happens randomly. When it does, it's fixable by using the show apps button on bottom left and closing it out. When I reopen it is fine. Even though it isn't a big deal, I'd love to fix this without trying a factory reset. Everything else is fine and I like my setup- not worth the hassle.
