Lately my messages app has been freezing and popping up with the force close option. It's getting ridiculous because its happened 3 times in the last 5 minutes for me. Also, it will get stuck at the please wait after sending a text, but when I hit home it will send the text but also save one as a draft. The rest of my phone is still running pretty smoothly, so I wanted to know if there was any fix or should I just wait for the ever elusive update. Also I'm not rooted

Have you tried a 3rd party messaging app, like GoSMS? Personally, I like the GoSMS interface better, which is why I use it, but it also seems to be a bit less buggy than the stock messaging app, at least for me.

The only issue I get somewhat frequently (regardless of what SMS app I use) is the when sending a message sometimes they just sit there with a status of "sending" and never actually send until I reboot the phone. Granted, I've had the TB since launch, and this has probably only happened 4 or 5 times, but it's still annoying when it does happen.

Do you have your text strings set to a limit or do you have some that are very long (like 100 or more messages from one person)? Before I installed the update I had to keep my text strings to less than 100 and I would be fine. If I got more than 100 in any of my strings it would start slowing down and acting funny. You can go in to the options for the text app and have it automatically delete messages at a certain limit. Or you could install a 3rd party messaging app.

I'll second GoSMS. Had the same issue as the OP, so I decided to go third party. Handcent was a bit too laggy for me, but GoSMS was perfect.
