Messages sent from iPhone preventing friend's message app on Android from working

I have sent messages from my iPhone running 12.2 beta and I have been sending photos to my friend and text messages who is running an Android phone running 7.0. I sent her four pictures of my new kitten and it has messed up her messaging app to the point where she cannot even open it. I am not sure what is causing this or how to fix it. She's tried the basic turn on and off, attempted to delete the thread to no avail, and I am out of ideas. Please help!

Have you sent these messages using iMessage?

You'll need to send the messages as regular SMS or MMS. IMessage will not work if the recipient doesn't have an iPhone.
