Messaging App Question

I loved that you could customize the background in the messaging apps on the LG G5. I can't figure out how to do that on the G6. Does anyone know?

Hmmm I don't have that option. I have advanced but it's not there. Is that just a difference in carriers maybe?

That's odd. I wouldn't think carriers would mess with the customization of the messaging app. Who's your carrier? I'm on T-Mobile.

I wouldn't think so either but who knows? I'm on Sprint.

Well to be honest I wouldn't put anything past sprint lol. You could always use another messaging app I guess.

There were some pretty major app and feature differences on the V20 between carriers, so it doesn't surprise me unfortunately

I agree with Textra! It's amazing. I even recommend paying for the ad-free version. My specific background is set to light and dark - during the day, the background is white, and at night it is black!

Has anyone had an issue with Gboard keyboard and GIF's not working. It remains x'd out in the stock messaging app. Works fine with Textra.

Mine is working fine. I just touch the smiley face to pull up the emoticon menu then touch the gif button and you can use the existing ones or search.

From what I've seen (my wife's G5) I believe, at least on T-Mobile, that LG's messaging app doesn't have gif support.

It's not available on the G5. Only the G6.

It does. Carriers tend to manipulate an OEM's software to suit their interest. I can't speak to why, I just know they do. I'm sure someone would know better than I in that regard.
