Messaging with Handcent

Have a quick question.
When using handcent SMS as a primary message application how do you know that the standard messaging app is turned off. When I send using Handcent the out going message shows in the messaging app that came with the phone. New messages come up in both as well. Does that mean getting counted twice for one message.

Other then that like the new moto Droid.

Go into the messages application and go into settings and turn off the part that says Notifications

How do you get your contact info into Handcent? It just says the numbers and I REALLY dont wanna have to enter it again
