Metal Key?

I had read that the metal key that comes with the Note 5 is to open the sim card tray. Why would I ever need to open the sim card tray area?

In case it some how stops working. .. or if you want to take the phone to a different country. Its cheaper to use a local sim then roam with provider...

A regular paper clip or similar small object works just fine

I have a Note 5 and a Galaxy S6. I just move my sim from one to the other when I want to switch.
