Mic icon missing from Google Keyboard

So I used to be able to use speech recognition when using Google keyboard in hangouts on my G5 phone. Now the little microphone icon is missing from the keyboard. I tried the fixes like going to settings, but I don't have anything in my settings that talks about speech, or voice like other people have talked about. I have the google search app. I have the google keyboard. One of googles updates seems to have removed the option.

Did google remove it totally or did they change a setting that I can fix?

Welcome to Android Central! With the keyboard open, press and hold the comma, then select the settings icon (the gear). Then select Google Keyboard Settings>Preferences, and make sure Voice Input Key is switched on.
