Mic Problems

My phone the other day took a quick swim. Everything is working except for the mic when it is not on speaker phone. If I don't have the phone on speaker phone, you hear tons of static and the other person. The other person cannot hear me, but I can hear them over the static.

I replaced my earpiece speaker but that didn't seem to fix it. Are there multiple microphones? Any thoughts on why when it is on speakerphone (or headset) you can hear me and them crystal clear, however when not it is just sending static?
