What can the micro sd card be used for on the Samsung Chromebook plus? Is it only to put movies and music on? I was hoping to store my zinio magazines, etc on them. Dropbox files. any ideas?

Are you talking about how Android apps could use the card? Or are you asking about typical uses for an SD card on any Chromebook in general?

pretty much any use for them? Short of movies I can't find a use for them on any chrome books

They can be handy if you want to transfer data to another computer or device via SD card (rather than uploading it to the cloud). If your Chromebook can use Android apps, your internal storage will become more important. The SD card may become an important place to save any local data you might have, to make room for app installation on the main storage. I'm not sure if Android apps on Chromebooks can be installed to SD cards (or if they can save data to the SD card).

In addition, you can use an SD card to create recovery media: https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/6002417?hl=en

Since Chromebooks were designed to take advantage of cloud storage, the SD slot has never been that crucial of a feature, but I imagine they keep including it for added versatility.

I found this thread while searching for an answer to my specific issue with a microsd card on my Samsung Chromebook Plus.

I am trying to transfer some downloaded videos [they are in Downloads on CB+] to my microsd card. I keep getting the following message: "Copy operation failed. The file could not be modified." I read that it might be a problem with the size of the videos, (about 75mb each) but even a simple Word or PDF document has the same issue.

Just in case it helps ... The sdcard originally was on my Microsoft Surface 3 and contains files saved originally on the Surface 3. I just ejected it there and loaded it on the CB+. I can view files (movies, etc) on the CB+, but cannot copy anything to it.

Thanks and blessings for your help.
