Micro SD mysteriously deleting Camera and .thumbnails folders from DCIM

I'm running an unrooted Alcatel Fierce 2 on Kitkat and recently ran into some trouble. My SD card is suddenly deleting the pictures I take after a reboot. The DCIM Camera folder on the SD card is no longer available, and neither is the .thumbnails folder. I've tried everything short of reformatting this memory card, and have even tried a different card (which for some reason wouldn't get recognized by the phone). I can save pictures and all to internal storage but not my SD and it's driving me nuts. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Figured I'd better make an account to try and diagnose this...

I've tried saving in different locations and the only location that works fine is my internal memory. My SD card is seemingly useless now. After a while, it would corrupt my images, lose the thumbnails, and make them unreadable. Now it's just straight up deleting them. Never had this issue before and it's been happening for the past 2 days.

I really don't want to perform a factory reset on the phone since the phone isn't being screwy, but reformatting the card may not be out of the question. Odd thing about the card is that I stuck in another Micro SD I had (one that SHOULD work on my phone, it's a Sandisk Ultra Plus 64 GB whereas the one in my phone is a Sandisk Ulta 64 GB) and nothing was read, leading me to believe my backup card that was sold from Best Buy is indeed the wrong one. Trying to figure that out as well.

Re: Micro SD mysteriously deleting Camera and .thumbnails folders from DCIM

Yes, I have tried saving it in other folders within the DCIM. I haven't tried anything outside of the DCIM since my phone's stock camera won't allow for that - either I save pictures to the SD card or to internal storage.

My issue is that the Camera folder within my SD card's DCIM is deleted upon reboot. There's nothing I've done that saves the folder and keeps the pictures there after reboot.

I tried different third party camera apps last night and had no luck, same thing happened. Upon reboot the files and pictures are gone. As I mentioned, internal memory works fine but my SD card is screwed up somehow.

Thanks for trying, it's really sad because it corrupted most of my files when I replaced them (I backed up the SD card before) and just turned them into grey boxes. After a reboot they went *poof* and just straight up went into the LOST.DIR folder. Not sure why it's doing that....

Re: Micro SD mysteriously deleting Camera and .thumbnails folders from DCIM

Update - I fixed my issue! Turned out I was moving files onto the SD card under the MTP option when plugged in via USB to my laptop, I shoulda been working on the SD card setting. Switched over to that and haven't had any issues with corrupted or mysteriously deleted photos. They even stayed intact after reboot!
