Micro USB and Not Mini?

My understanding is that the USB port is a micro port and not a mini? That makes all my mini accessories - such as chargers - the AV cables for the HTC Touch pro-2 etc. pretty much worthless yes?

The Incredible will use its own TV-output composite (RCA) cable. IIRC, it connects via the 3.5mm headphone jack.

You can get cheap mini-to-micro adapters online for general USB connectivity and charging. I have several Motorola & generic adapters to utilize all of the various miniUSB cables I have laying around and they all work on any number of devices (Palm, Motorola, etc).

I had heard that it was via the headphone jack but the videos I've seen made me seem to think it was via the USB port?

But you can get adapters....

But it's probably cheaper to get new cables and chargers.
Moto SKN6252A (mini to micro adapters) can be found cheap online.

They've been working for me since I got my Moto V9M which was my first phone that used MicroUSB port. And they do work fine with my Moto Droid and HTC Incredible.

I have the moto ones so my wife can charge her envtouch and I can charge my bb curve and we use the same chargers but bought like 5 of these adapters for like 15.00.
Well worth it in my opinion.

Thanks for the tips guys. I found some adapters for $1.98 or so...at this point unsure if I want to wait on shipping or see if I can find them in a store or something this weekend. Maybe another cell store - best buy or office store.

you'll pay a lot more in a store for them vs online.

maybe try fry's or something like it if you don't want to wait for shipping.

Honestly, I would spend the extra money to get new cables over adapters. In my experience adapters can be a huge hassle, and sometimes they are cheap because they are built cheaply. I've had adapters break on me and just stop working before.

Then again, I have multiples of both micro & mini usb laying around... but I'm a packrat.

I'm kind of sad that mini usb didn't stick around as the standard. There are so many mini usb cables around me (home, car, work, etc) and now that micro usb is a standard I'll have to get new cables. Standards are only cool until there's a new one.

truth indeed. I gave up on cheap cables and such since they seem to be nothing but issues after time.

microUSB is a trend for most new devices and they are trying to make that an actuial "standard" also

they say they needed to switch to be able to make the new phones as thin as they are getting.

if that's the truth, i'm all for it.
