So I bought a micro usb to vga adapter so I can use my device to do presentations etc but for the life of me I can't see how to get it to output the screen to the projector.

I don't want to buy the allcast stuff as this should work..am I missing a setting or something?

I believe you are trying to do a digital to analog conversion or some other conversion. Might need a special type of cable with a built in converter chip to make the connection. Might try usb to hdmi cable then use adaptor to convert that to vga.

If I had to guess, I would say that dongle supports the older (pre GSIII) MHL connection that Samsung used. You may need the MHL dongle-adapter that is needed to make the newer Samsung (GSIII and later) models work with older MHL dongles.

Did you happen to read the reviews for that product? Half says it worked and the other said it doesnt

Hate to be stating what might be obvious, but many don't know these are active adapters and you have to always have power plugged into the USB female port on the adapter. Disregard if you are already doing that and it doesn't work. I have a Note 10.1 not an 8, but I know others have posted that accessories for the Note 2 such as the Samsung Smart Multimedia dock work with the Note 8 - so I would look for adapters that are known to work with the Note 2 rather than the Galaxy II/III series phones. Just a thought.

Hi

Connecting a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 or a Galaxy Tab 2014 is fairly easy and straightforward.

You just need the right adapter. There are some very good ones available at reasonable prices

I use it all the time for my training and consulting needs
