microphone goes mute during phone calls

During long phone calls (*not* on speakerphone), my phone's microphone suddenly stops working so the other person cannot hear me. I hear them perfectly. I have to navigate to phone->speakerphone icon and hit it to turn on, that wakes up microphone, and I can b heard again. Usually does not happen on short duration calls but has a couple of times.

Anyone else?

Welcome to Android Central! See if it happens in Safe Mode, which temporarily disables all 3rd party apps: http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-5744. Steps are at the bottom of that article.

If it persists, then there might be a hardware problem with the phone mic.

Same problem here.. I resolved it turning off the "always listen " option on the Google app. It seems like this option takes the control of the microphone all the time.
I get this solution when another apps notify me "another apps is using the microphone " ... Ok google XD
