Microphone greyed out for calls on new Galaxy Watch

I have a new Galaxy Watch LTE and have not added it to my carrier yet, however, over bluetooth when I receive a call it appears on the watch but the microphone icon is greyed and has a line thru it. I have to go to the phone to be heard on the call. I turned on the microphone input in System, still nothing in calls? If I register with my carrier, will that enable the microphone for calls? The microphone works in Bixby.
 
Make sure when you connect via Bluetooth that you set it to work for phone and media. That may not be checked.

I don't see anything on watch or phone bluetooth connection settings to set both phone and media?

When you go to the phone Bluetooth settings, you should select the watch connection and you should see something similar to my pic.

For some reason I cannot get Input Media to stay chosen. I click on it and it opens then immediately closes again. I have reset my watch several times and still can't get it to stay. I am NOT resetting my phone, I have had it for4 years and don't want to lose anything on it!

Mine does the same thing so it's not a bug. The watch can't be used for input, but for "output". Like streaming music, displaying info, etc? Or maybe you need to be connected to a device, such as a BT speaker where you're streaming music from your watch, before the Input option is available.
