Looking at that image, there seems to be a mic on the corner right side of the device, which, at least if you hold phones like I do, you'll probably cover if you hold the phone portrait mode in your right hand (Maybe even in the left hand as well), or hold it in landscape (With one finger on each corner to hold it). If the guy in the picture was holding it right handed like he is with his left hand, he'd be covering it. Perhaps they want you to cover it? Is it not a mic? Is it just bad design?

Looking at the Note 3 owners manual someone just posted, there was a diagram showing all the parts of the device, and there were 2 mics pointed out, but not in the place that hole is in the pic.

Are you looking for things to complain about? lol

Well you'll be happy to know that what you are pointing out is NOT the mic. The Mic is at the bottom of the phone.

Well then what is it? What else requires holes? Maybe for the temperature gauge?

There has been a second hole there on the other phones for awhile. It's a noise canceling mic at the top... And the mic you talk into on the bottom.

Sent from my T-Mobile HTC One using AC Forums.

It is the NSA mic. It records ecerything for them. dont worry guys. ssshhhh.......

jk. it looks to be for noise cancellation, or for recording videos, and getting the front audio better.
