I picked up two Acer A100 tablets for gifts and I want to get MicroSD cards for them. Any recommendations on what kind I should get? MicroSD or MicroSDHC? Class?
Thanks.

I purchased this

Amazon.com: SanDisk 16 GB microSDHC Flash Memory Card SDSDQ-016G (Bulk Packaging): Electronics

16 Gigs on top of the 8 already on board is plenty for me Its enough for a couple of PS1 games and some 720p anime. and maybe a days worth of music and it was only 15 bucks.

The picture in the description shows a class 2 but mine is class 4.
And it was a legit MicroSD card from SanDisk, model number and everything on it.
The read speed is fast enough that it doesnt affect the loading of movies or games or anything really but to copy 16 gigs worth of data on to this thing at once, well itll take a while since the write speed is so slow it'll take you roughly 2 hours to copy 16 gigs of data onto it.

If the write speed is important to you get a class 10 MicroSDHC, it's the fastest available but it's also very expensive 16 gigs of that will run you 50-60 dollars. Not worth it imo.

Is your A100 recognizing the card or have you tried moving anything to the card? I just purchased the Acer A100 and the MicroSD solt seems to be useless. The tablet recognizes:-\ the card (shows in setup) but you can't use it or move anything to it.

I haven't made any attempts to move files from the internal storage to the Sdcard as I move everything to the SD card whenever I put anything on the tablet.

My Tablet does recognize it, and my apps like the video player and my music player do detect data on it and are able to play the files on it. I have not moved any apps to it nor have I tried to run anything off of it besides from PS1 games and media files

Perhaps its a faulty SD card? Try putting it into another device and see if it'll work. If it does work then try exchanging your tablet.

Card probably works fine, you just have to look for the external SD card mount. If you use ES File Explorer, hit favorites and you should see it (or just browse to /mnt/external_sd using whatever file browser you like)....

In stock form, all you can use it for is for storage, ie, you can't move you apps to it. It is part of one of the changes in Honeycomb (unless you root, opening up some options). Alot of the apps you can configure to download and/or store on the card, though (ie, the camera). So any videos, music, etc, put it on the external sd card and use the internal storage for just apps....

As for card recommendations, I picked up a PNY 32gb Class 10 for ~$50 from newegg for my needs: Newegg.com - PNY 32GB Micro SDHC Flash Card Model P-SDU32G10-EFS2

A few days ago after receiving an A100 for Christmas, I bought a PNY 16 gig class 10 for it for under thirty dollars. I figure that 24 gigs of total storage will keep me for a while.

I picked on up on Black Friday from Best Buy for $15. I would definitely recommend using a class 10 if you plan to run any apps from the sdcard, using something like GL2SD. Also makes watching video off the card a bit smoother.

I wouldn't do anything less than a class 6.
