Migrating Apps to New Android Phone

I am consdering retiring my Moto Droid in favor of a Moto Droid2 (maybe the Samsung Fascinate...). Before taking the step, I am concerned about the many apps I have on my Droid - esp those that I paid for along with books for the Kindle app. So...when I get the new device and download the apps to it, will the licenses (paid for via Market/Google) transfer automatically? OR, must I contact each vendor?

As long as you have the same number and account any paid app should transfer as well as ank books from your reader. You will of course have to download all of them again. Any free apps won't be in your download file you will have to serch for them again.
