Wow, looks like this is what advertising does. There are way more Epics than needed at all of the Sprint stores near me than Evos. Not ONE has an Evo available. Sigh, I'll have to wait for a while longer as it's even sold out online.

Are the Epics not selling well or are they overstocked or something? I feel ya on the Evo backorder. My buddy is still waiting.

I got lucky I strolled into a radio shack that had one that arrived that morning, can you say happy camper....lol

I have no idea, but I got a quick look in their storage area when they were switching mine out a few weeks ago. There was an honest to goodness pyramid of Epics stocked about 3 feet high! Evo's? Nope, just the display model. Well, I hope I get mine soon. My 3rd and final Epic is going back Friday and then I'll have to use my old iPhone for a few days to a week or more :( Once I get my Evo though, you'll be seeing me post that around here! lol :)

I talked an acquaintance out of getting an iPhone (she was coming from a Pre) and encouraged her to get an EVO, but no one had any, so she eventually got an Epic on launch day. I was in a Staples and a clerk was envious because she wanted one, but couldn't. Success is killing HTC.

Yup, you're right. HTC should manage their phone stock better. While the Epics are an instantaneous sale, people might give up waiting for the Evo and go for the Epic instead. :\

Am I the only one with an Evo who would straight up trade it for an Epic? that screen is just flat out amazing and it feels faster. I'm not thrilled about how it feels in hand when the keyboard is out but i doubt i'd ever pull the keyboard out anyway.

I'm impressed with Samsung and how they were able to ship close to 2mil devices with super amoled screens.

You wouldn't be as impressed if you actually tried to functionally use one for work for 3 weeks....believe me, I tried.

I wouldn't necessarily draw the conclusion that this means the Evo is that much more popular than the Epic, though it is certainly possible that is true. Samsung may have just been in a better position to flood the market with supply. Samsung makes their own screens and their own chips. And both the SAMOLED and the Hummingbird processor are exclusive to their Galaxy S line. They're in a much better position to control their supply chain than HTC is.

Again, I'm not saying that it isn't true that the Evo is more popular. It's just that without equivalent supply levels, it's tough to draw a conclusion.

Do you have a post in the epic forum I could read about?

I have a feeling in the pit of my stomach that says once CM6 is table on the galaxy S CDMA line I might jump ship..

That's actually kind of funny. Maybe Samsung was anticipating higher unit sales and produced alot more Epics than demand needed? on the flip side maybe HTC wasnt expecting this many orders? /shrug

This was my thought until I actually used it for 3 weeks. For some reason, and it may be a remote issue, but I never got used to the PenTile Matrix and it really bothered me. Also, the screen doesn't look that amazing after a while IMO. I can agree that it definitely looks better than lcd screens though.

I bet it's all timing. I wonder what phone would be more scarce had the Epic been released before the Evo.

Perhaps.

Nope I'd do a flat trade too, I LOVE my evo but the screen, hummingbird and I wouldn't mind the keyboard, make me lust.

Although the hacking community for evos is way huge.

Well, I wish things could work like that, but the hardware has some pretty ridiculous issues of its own. Who knew the battery life was going to be 4 hours less than an Evo's with super heavy usage? The screen's incredible, absolutely incredible, but on the other hand, it takes up 68-80% of your battery usage. The keyboard gets scratched REAL easily and unfortunately, there's nothing you can do to protect it. All in all, it's a really good phone and I would not have let it go, but the Evo was calling me back lol :D

I say sign up for a new acount and try to for atleast a week then decide if you really would rather have it over your evo. The specs impressed me too but after a week I returned it. Got my full money back so no harm done. But without trying it for a while you can't really know for sure.
