Mine finally bootlooped... but I am not complaining

I have been a long time V10 user since December 2015. I quite simply have had no real reason to change. This phone does EXACTLY what I need it to do, nothing more or less.

About 1.5 months ago I noticed it was running a bit warmer than usual. I never really noticed or payed much attention to it, thinking it was just my apps and my usage that was the culprit. So I just continued using it. My battery life was worsening too, but I just attributed that to the three aging batteries I have been using since late Nov 15'.

About 2 weeks ago standby battery life really took a nose dive, like a 45 degree slope downward. Stand-by batt usage looked more like screen on time usage. I cleared cache and that helped, even with the aging batteries.

About 1 week ago I bought 2 new batteries, "YISHDA" branded ones from Amazon. As I was calibrating them (2-3 discharge cycles), my phone started to randomly freeze/lock up. I rebooted it a couple times... and I thought it fixed it, but it started to bootloop.

I knew right away... this is the end of the line.

I have been paying the additional $8/mo Verizon extended warranty though, so I went to the local store and once I mentioned the word bootloop... no questions asked they sent me a "refurbished"
replacement which I received in 36 hours. Unfortunately the replacement had a dead cellular radio... so I went back to the store and they sent me another one. But this one had a foggy/scratched camera lens. So I swapped the camera lenses... and now all is well.

I have a functioning refurb, good camera lens, no more bootloop.

Overall I am glad I spent the additional monthly fee for Verizon extended warranty. Even though I have reservations about the quality levels of the "refurbish" units out there in circulation. Still for me, it worked out better than sending my original unit back to LG.

My only regret is not backing up my phone and contacts... as much of a pain as that is, I've learned my lesson. So if any of you have a V10 exhibiting these kinds of behaviors... QUICKLY back up your contacts and personal information.

From everything that I've read on AC, LG would have repaired the phone for free if it was caused by bootloop. If you keep your phone in good condition, always better to get it repaired by LG instead possibly getting a skanky replacement with scratches, etc. BUT - you would have been without a phone like you mentioned...

Yeah... Verizon replacement or LG repair. One things for sure Verizon warranty replacements are sent fast.

I wasn't completely without a phone though. I have an iPhone as a backup... if you can call that a phone. But thankfully I was not on iOS any longer than necessary.

Glad that all worked out for you. I actually wish mine would just bootloop now before the 2 year LG warranty extension ends. It is exhibiting all the signs yours was (running hot, horrible battery life, etc.) so if it's going to happen I hope it does before November 13th, when I originally bought it.

Yeah, same exact boat here. Got mine in Dec 2015, Finally boot-looped two weeks ago. Contacted LG and they sent me a pre-paid FedEx label and I sent it off for repair. Took 8 days to get it back in my hand. I appreciate that a great deal and will very heavily consider the V30 as my next phone.

I am not sure how the LG warranty works, but if its anything like my experience with Verizon... ANY mention of boot loop will get you a replacement. Logically I would think running hot and nose dive battery performance should be seen as pre-requisite to a boot loop. I bet if I went into my Verizon store 2-3 weeks ago, fearing a boot loop they would have taken care of me.

No, only for the bootloop issue, warranty for two years. All other issues still a one year warranty.
I sent mine into LG for running hot. They are fixing it for free under warranty. It has not bootlooped so they are repairing other issues as well.

Got notified today that it has been repaired and shipped back for free. They replaced main board and other whatever other means. Guess I'll find out if they sent a repair list of what they did. If not I may never know what the "other" they repaired is.

You can split hairs but running hot is directly related to the bootloop thing. But good that you point out that they fixed your phone before it actually was totally dead.

According to the LG repair site they put it down as not charging with cable. No idea where they pulled this from. I'm guessing it helps cut down on the number of bootloop issues they have to report. They say they replaced main board (sign of bootloop issue) and other. Not sure what other is. Still waiting on Fedex to deliver the phone. That's a very sore subject right now so I'll leave it at that. :)

Got the same diagnosis with my V10.
I expect that is because there is no response from the phone when they plug in the power adapter. Dead as the proverbial doornail.

It charged fine when it left my house so I don't know...I got it back and it's working great now. No overheating or anything so far.
