I've had this phone for like a week now.

On the Plus side,
this camera is amazing...i've been able to talk with my boyfriend, my dad who's overseas and
friends and take pictures with both cameras.

The Front-camera is actually pretty cool.

The camera is amazing as i stated above and I love the music player and of course the big screen size.

But the bad is outweighing the good....

I had a Droid inc2 that i exchanged for a Droid Razr.
I actually liked the Razr aside from the average/crappy camera on Moto and it got a little laggy.
Besides i wanted a big phone lol.

My Galaxy S3 has horrid reception. I can't hold a voice call without dropping the call...that rarely happened with the Moto(yes i am aware that Moto's radios are better than samsung but i didn't expect this).

When i text, i have to type the message out and put the phone down on the table and THEN press send because if i hold it...it will not send because it loses signal.

I got pissed last night trying to contact tech support for my DSL...had been on hold for like 20 mins and the gs3 decided to simply drop the call.

I chose the Samsung GS3 over the nexus for the slightly bigger screen and because i heard they had radio issues with their phones that rooting and flashing jellybean would fix. Of course the same day, i get my gs3....the galaxy nexus literally gets Jellybean.

So now i have an amazing camera and music player but i have a phone that just isn't satisfying at all.

So i am thinking of trading via craigslist and wanted opinions....

1. Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I hear JB fixes these issues but i feel as if my phone is better than the Nexus so would it be fair to ask for cash.
My friend has a Nexus he got in Feb and wants to trade because he likes touchwiz and he said he'd add cash.
But how much is fair....I hear JB fixed those radio issues

2. HTC rezound

I am a bit meh with HTC Sense but if i trade for that, how much is fair to ask for during trade?

3. Moto Razr
How much cash could i ask someone to put with their razr for my GS3?

I honestly have no idea what to do. I went from an outdated Dinc2 and quickly used my first return to get a more up-to date razr to find it has a bad camera(but i did like everything else) to a beautiful GS3 with horrible reception.

Your problems are not regular problems. If within 30 days of buying your phone, take it back in to store for an exchange.

There must be a bad production run on these phones. I find mine actually has equal or better reception than my last phone (HP Pre3)...in outskirting reception areas towards the Rocky Mountains, and in the city...pretty much flawless. Sorry about your luck, have you tried asking for a warranty replacement?

I would exchange it also. My phone has yet to drop a call after 6 weeks and I was never unable to make a call or text from anywhere and I travel 100 miles daily!

Really?

I've read that others have had signal problems with their gs3 like i am(not as widespread as complaints with the Nexus).

I am unable to return the phone now because it's been 14 days. I got it from best buy.

The 14 day window is for changing to a different type of phone. You seem to have a defective phone. You are still covered to swap out phones to another gs3 under warranty.

I'm not talking about returning your phone and getting your money back. There should be a manufacturer warranty, and you should be able to make a claim. I would look into it, if it's as bad as you say. Another avenue might be to purchase replacement insurance through your carrier, and then claim your phone constantly loses reception and you need a replacement....ie manufacturers defect. AFAIK, this wouldn't be entering the side of a fraudulent claim, which I'm also not suggesting. I have the same insurance through Bell Mobility for $7/month. This covers up to 2 replacements/year...due to my own negligence, ie I drive over top of it with my truck, I drop it in a puddle of water, it gets stolen, I lose it....and also covers ANY manufacturer defect (no yearly limitations on replacements)....ie screen stops working, speaker gets blown etc, etc.

I will see if i can exchange it to another GS3 but i don't think that will help my problem as their doesn't appear to be anythign wrong with the phone except low reception

When i am away at school it works fine but at home(it's rural), i do have lower reception but my droid razr performed better.

So back to my original topic, how much could i ask for someoen to give me in a trade for my GS3 if i traded with my friend or through someone on Craigslist?

yeah sledge, i think bestbuy(the place i brought the gs3) has something similar to bell.

Best Buy has a 30 day exchange/return policy. As stated above if it's defective then a exchange should fit into the 1 year warranty period.

As I said previously, it's obviously defective. An exchange is a quick fix. If really looking for a different phone, then go for it. Only comparable one to S3 now is iPhone 5. Both excellent. Just depends on which flavor you prefer.

As you mentioned, Motorola wins when it comes to the radios they use in their phones... however you shouldn't be plagued with constant signal issues with the GS3, thats not normal. I also owned the Galaxy Nexus and never had signal problems with that phone either that so many people complain about... maybe it's a bad batch of phones or problems with SIM cards or something, I dont know.

I would go down to a corporate store and first try a new SIM card.. if that doesn't solve it, try a new GS3 before jumping to a different phone all together.

New simand new gs3....same signal problems
No idea what to do.

If new phone is doing as bad as you say, return it for money if still inside the 30 day return window.

Otherwise, I will trade you a 16gb black iPhone 4 for your S3...

go to best buy and swap for a new phone while your in the 30 day window . it wont hurt a thing to try and see if it fixes your problem. i came from a razr and my friends have razrs and all compare them all the time and we cant really tell a difference between them even in fring areas.
