Minimizing current app

One thing that is driving me nuts as a new S10+ owner - whenever I have multiple apps open and I minimize my current app, it slides over to the right, and the app I was using previously is the one in the center of the screen. So whenever I want to close my current app, I often minimize it, then flick it off the screen. But I often flick the wrong app, because the most recent app isn't the one front and center. Is there a setting to change this? Coming from Windows and Apple, the way Android is doing it seems very unintuitive, but I guess I'll adjust if necessary.

You're not minimizing anything - this is Android, not one of the desktop operating systems. There's only one app in the foreground (unless you split the screen). When you "minimize" an app, you're either closing it or bring another app to the foreground, depending on how you're doing it.

When you go into the "Recents" screen to "flick" it, you have to look to see which app you're flicking.

I guess "minimizing" was just a placeholder word I was using, but that's completely irrelevant. The fact that I have to LOOK to see which app I'm swiping away is idiotic. The one in the middle of the screen should be the one that I just "minimized", since 99% of the time that's the app that I want to close. It shouldn't be off to the right, barely on the screen at all. Oh well.

You can download Samsung good lock much better way of handling open apps or switching between them.

On Q beta 6 with Essential - you can "slide" and go back to last app and continue - without showing small mini view and having to choose.

With the recents widget on the bottom if you do a quick double tap it also switches automatically to last app.
