Missing Car Home Icon?

I was looking through the apps on my phone and noticed that there is no icon for the Car Home app. The app is in my list of apps, but I cant seem to find the reason why there is no icon for it.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Yeah it's not in the app drawer. it's supposed to open when docking the TB on the car dock, but I've had issues even with that working. You can download Car home Beta from the market. I've tried that and it works well.

I cannot find how to activate the built in car home without using a dock.

Yeah, it works in the dock and automatically launches, but I don't think there's any way to launch it otherwise.

OK thanks....once again I have been running custom ROMs for so long, and they all have an icon for it that you can open it up anytime.

Cant wait to root and put a WarmZ ROM on this baby!!!

Are you guys talking about the car panel app.... if so, I have it in my app drawer and it launches right up.

This is usually done via a "Hall Effect" switch. It is triggered by a magnet in the dock. I've just run a magnet around the entire back and sides of my Bolt, and I can't get the dock app to open. Then again, I don't even see the dock app in my app tray.

Its in the app drawer... at least for me it is and is an icon of a map with a compass over it. Opens right up... no dock. The app itself looks like Car Home or any other car dock app. Opens up to giant buttons with.. Footprints, Navigation, Voice search, View map, Search, Make a call. It puts a car icon in your notification bar when opened.

If it makes any difference... I'm using Launcher Pros dock. I'll switch back to the Sense launcher and see if I still have the app in my drawer...brb.

Well... that's what it was. The Sense Launcher does not show the app in the app drawer. It works with Launcher Pro.

I'll add it to the Problems and Solutions sticky for everyone.

If anyone else is using a different launcher (ADW, Go Launcher, etc..) and the car panel icon is in your app drawer, post it so I can add it to the solution list.

I switched over to ADW and it showed up in there. Could put it on the home screen with that but no way to find it once I was off ADW and back to sense

I have the Verizon car dock and mine also does not trigger the Car Home/Car Panel app (don't know what it's called since I don't have the icon).

Ok This is weird- had my phone on the charger. Charger was a little loose and when it jiggled my Car Dock app activated- This is first time I have noticed this. I do have the car dock but this was on the regular Verizon wall charge. Thoughts???


edit- now it wont do it- must be some kind of glitch.

Mine did,t at first either- but I didn,t have it sitting fully in the dock- It is VERY tight- have to make sure phone is fully pushed down into the dock. Then it will activate

It's too bad HTC did not include an link to the app in the app drawer... yes, I can find it using Google's search of my device, but to have to do that every time I want to use Car Panel is NOT GOOD.

I installed LauncherPro, but really like all those HTC Sense widgets and apps... then I tried ADW.Launcher... found the Car Panel app in both, but again it was not worth going to one of those Launchers just to have an app icon for one app that is on my device.

I'm really not happy... ... I hope HTC fixes this... or is it Verizon???

You can use SwipePad to have the app on the "SwipePad" ... that's what I've done. Pretty nice app, and recently updated to fix the annoyances I had with it, like the fade in animation and the requirement for it to be in your notification bar to avoid it being killed.

Thanks, I pushed it in harder today and heard a "click" (I'm thinking it was the left side of the phone suddenly hitting the dock). That triggered the Car Panel app. Now the other bad thing is that it's very hard to take out the phone. I'm considering returning it since it takes too long to put in and remove and just wait for a better 3rd party one.
