missing email count

It must be something silly but I cant find it. I used to get a little number on my email app to tell me how many emails I had. This was convenient but now it has gone and cant remember changing any settings. Have looked through all the settings with no joy. Help. Edit: sorry I have a Galaxy tab 3.8.0 wifi only.

Try going in the app manager and clear the program's extra data. You shouldn't lose any emails off your actual account by doing this.

Thanks guys I could find the gmail app cache and cleared it but it made no difference. There was no app in the app manager for the basic email app for some reason. There seems to be settings for email scattered around the many menus and after going through EVERY menu I seem to be back on track now despite getting stuck in 'combined view' for a while.

In app manager scroll over all the way to the right to the "all" menu, it's in there (at least on mine it is)
