So as many of us know, the Samsung Epic's TouchWiz 3.0 (or is it 2.5?) is missing some key features that other Galaxy S phones, i.e. Vibrant and Captivate, do have. Among these include the puzzle-piece notification feature on the lockscreen and the Samsung Music Player.

We also know that the Epic will be recieving a Froyo update in the near future. Can we expect the TouchWiz UI for the Epic to become updated to what we see on other Galaxy phones as well? I've heard that the reason for these missing features is primarily because they don't fit well with the landscape homescreen mode required by the Epic's QWERTY keyboard. I am dissapointed at Samsung for stripping Epic's UI of these features, but it could be forgivable if they figured "why take the time to tweak them for the current software if we're gonna push out an update soon anyways? We'll release the phone for now, edit the features to work with the Epic, and include them in the Froyo update."

Well that would certainly be nice, but none of the omitted things are anywhere near deal killers for me. I hope the come with froyo but they aren't mandantory in my mind.

Some debate behind the music player...as honestly, most see it as a 'bloat' option that could be one of the culprits of 'slow down' on the Vibrant ...

Android player / 3rd party music playing options (CorePlayer on Android yet?) > Samsung Music Player imho.

I'm w/ you on the puzzle piece lockscreen, but I'm sure via Root or just customization app's you can be just as capable of adding said features/options on your own. However, you might not be into the whole rooting thing...

Is there a Stock media player?

I believe the Epic has the generic Android music player. I know it doesn't have the fancy Samsung Music Player that the captivate and vibrant have (which I have dissapointed about)

All I need is the Samsung Music player and TV - out and I'm statisfied. Launcher pro, handcent, and Screen mode will take care of the rest for me personally.

Only thing about LauncherPro is that you can't use Samsung widgets. Which, now that I think about it, wouldn't be that bad, as none of the Samsung widgets are particularly amazing.
