I have noticed that the labels which are normally underneath the icons on the bottom of the screen Messages, Phone, email, on my Samsung S8 are missing. They are however present on all the other icons on the home screen. I'm sure there's a simple solution here. My question please how do I get them back again.

If your on pie you cant unless you download a launcher.

Samsung Galaxy 8 (Android v. 9)
I must apologise here I am a beginner so don't fully understand everything. I know that Android Pie update was on 9 April but how does this effect little and insignificant things such as labels under
the appropriate icon? Due to your prompt I've now read there's lots of pros and cons about the update.
amongst other things security which very important. Which launcher would be suitable to add labels under the icons Messages, Email, Phone, Contacts etc. Many thanks once again for your reply.

update appeared I obviously went ahead. There's the security issue about which I am very interested.

Pie=9.0 andriod version
My opinion great launcher is Nova
Some like the new update others dont , I personally think it's a big step forward for Samsung from where they been

What security issue? Pie is more secure than Oreo.

Anyway, a software update can affect EVERYTHING. There's nothing it can't affect. If Samsung wanted the software update to remove the labels on apps on the homescreen dock, it can. The homescreen you see is just part of the software that get's changed whenever the company wants to.
