I have lost my nexus 10. I did not have any tracking apps installed and I wasn't the one who set it up so I'm not sure if the encrypt data was pressed. It did not have a password on if that helps just slide to unlock. Any ideas on how I may be able to get it back?

You are probably SOL. Mind if I ask, how did you lose a Nexus 10?

Your ONLY recorse is IF you have identifying information about the device, the MAC Address Serial Number ETC, then PERHAPS you can call Google and get them if there is anyway they can PREVENT someone else from registering an account on that device. I have No idea if Google can provide this service or would be willing to do so even if they can. However IF you bought it from the Paly store then odds are you have a better chance than someone who bought it from staples.

I hope you already changed the password on the gmail account you had the device set up on. If not, do so promptly.

Isn't every device you registered shown in your play account?

Firstly, it was lost in McDonald's while my fianc? was there on a break from uni and left it behind. I'm asking on behalf of her as I'm a iPad user. Thanks for all the responses. I have contacted the police, and manufacturers. The worst bit about it, it was less than a week old :(

Yes it is, but the account does not reflect that Information from our end. I am just speculating that Google would need some sort of identitiy verification from the user and of the device to prevent "Theif #1" from calling Google to change the account or "Fred*" from selling it to "Barny*" then telling Google It was stolen.

I have multiple N7s and google play seems to be able to tell them apart as it shows the apps installed on each and they are not the same. Google probably has some sort of ESN for each device. That might help the OP un-authorize the stolen device. The case of a seller saying that someone stole the device could be handled individually since hopefully that is an unlikely occurence.

At any rate it would be worth a call or email to Google to see if they can help out. The worse that can happen is that they say "Sorry, we can't help you".

I think we are both saying the same thing in different ways. I know Google can identify the devices from their end. I don't know if they offer the service of blocking/black listing a device. IF they do then I'm guessing they will want the owner of the device to provide certain matching info about that device. Otherwise someone could just as easily call up google and deactivate one of your many N7s.

Calling Google is the only way to know for sure.
