Missing photos on my Galaxy S5

I had this problem and just found the answer today. The photos and videos are probably in the LOST.DIR folder and be named random numbers. Copy them over to a separate folder on your hard drive & do a batch file extension change to .jpg. The larger files are probably videos and you'll need to manually change the file extension on them to .mp4. If you have a lot of video files it may be easier to put them in a separate folder and do a batch file extension change on them. I just had a few, so I did them manually.

I don't have enough posts here to be able to add a URL to my reply, but here's some good information on batch file extension changes.

I have a galaxy s5 & backed all my photos up to my Samsung account as my phone had to be reset to factory settings after I had reset it went to samsung account to retrieve 400 pics only to find they had gone is there anything I can do all pics of my kids when they small 😠

to all
just pressed the "update" button yesterday, and the next time i looked at my phone, all 900 pics were gone from my gallery!!

ended up taking the phone to nearest Verizon store, and the guy could not help me; just told me all were lost and he could not give me further advice.

later that night, I opened up the back cover, above the battery there was a small chip card. took this chip card and inserted in a reader allowing me to plug into usb/computer. low and behold- all the pics were there, whew!!

hope this helps someone else.
moral of the story is "not to press the update button"; as it looks like this is happening across the country for over 2 years now!!

Hi,
I took some photos today on my S5 and even reviewed some of them straight away, but now they are missing. I definitely didn't delete any but I can't find them in any folders. Has anyone else had this happen? and if so, is there a way I can get those photos back again?

Thanks for your help in advance :-)

Ever since I hit update a few days ago on my galaxy 5, my "camera" folder disappeared in my gallery. I have 25 other folders and they are all intact. This leaves me no apparent way to move pictures that I took recently into my various albums. Anyone have the solution?
