Occasionally I was missing some text messages once in awhile. Now it seems I don't get any when my phone is off. They don't catch up when my phone is turned on. So many times I think someone hasn't responded to me to be proven wrong with screen shots. Anyone know a fix? I have all updates and my phone is shut off each night and restarted in the morning. Thanks!

I shut phone off every night. I will try clearing data.

OK... Cleared the cache but not data. Don't want all my settings wiped out.
You clear its data and force stop the app in case any glitch in it .

You turn the phone off ? Or automatically in settings?

Perhaps download a third-party SMS app, like Textra, and see if the issue persists?

I only cleared cache. Didn't clear data as I don't want to lose settings. Force closing said it could cause errors. Don't think I want that either lol.
It won't, trust me I've done on my phone .

Have you also asked your carrier about this?

What about phone calls -- any issues there?

Also, mustang7757 had asked before if this is for both SMS (simple text) and MMS (picture texts and group texts) messages -- can you tell?

Sorry I didn't get a notification that someone else had commented. It's just regular text messaging. Of course now my husband's waiting till later in the day to send me a text message. He usually sends me one early morning before I even get up. And I wasn't getting them. Then I wasn't getting a few from my kids that they sent after I shut my phone off for the night. Don't text a lot so not sure if problems been resolved from clearing the cache. As for phone calls what do you mean? I don't know of any missed calls as I really don't get lots of phone calls when my phone is off LOL.

The reason I ask about phone calls is that plain SMS and phone calls get sent using the basic voice signal, so if there's a problem with the signal, you might have problems with both.

The reason I ask about SMS vs MMS is that MMS uses mobile data (rather than the voice signal that SMS uses), so it's possible for a person to get SMS messages fine but not receive MMS properly if there's a problem with mobile data reception (or if the APN settings are incorrect: https://www.androidcentral.com/what-apn-and-how-do-i-change-it).
