Mistake

Thank you! I may hang onto some Apple stuff also, probably at least my M1 iPad Pro 11 and Apple TV, but I am definitely going to trade my iPhone 13PM for a Galaxy S24, or 25 when it comes out. Also interested in trading up from my Apple Watch 6 to a new Galaxy Watch Classic or Ultra. Maybe even switch to Galaxy Buds2 Pro from my Air pods pro. I also am looking forward to a Tab S9, or S10 when it releases to replace my iPad Pro for my real estate work. I can see that DEX is much more conducive to getting real work done.

I am enthralled by the fact that you can attach a cell phone to an external monitor and have a desktop environment to work on. I also like One UI and DEX on the Samsung devices better than the interface iOS offers on the iPhone. I updated the a9+ to One UI 6.1 and Android 14. I like the way DEX Classic looks, but like the functionality of the new DEX better.

Really looking forward to this new ride. Change is good!:giggle:
I have the S24U you won't be disappointed some learning curves as they have a lot of features and settings that you're not accustomed to.
Samsung tablets re definitely good and the earbuds but the buds in my experience don't have good range from phone. Dex is in. While different level , your going love that , I don't use it much but it's great.
As for the watch I do have the Samsung watch 5 but don't use it much I'm not a watch person:( other members can definitely help in that department.

Hey all! Long time Apple fan here. Bought my first Android device, and I am sold. Just entry level but wow! I got the 8gb/128gb Tab A9+ to try out Android, specifically One UI and DEX....and:oops: I'm coming over to the dark side. When the new Tab S10's come out, I will get one. I will also be trading in my iPhone 13 Pro Max in for a new Galaxy S25 Ultra later this year. And yes, I will be getting a Galaxy Watch Classic or Ultra to replace my Apple Watch. Gonna have to trade in the Air pods Pros for some Galaxy buds also. I love tech in general and am excited about my new tech journey.

Still getting set up and tweaking, but loving the One UI and DEX. Still shocked at how much better I like Android over iOS and iPadOS. Once I get the Tab S10, my wife wants the A9+. OK...going to explore the forum. See you all around.:)

Welcome to the forums. What made you want to switch, and what is the biggest difference that you like the most?

A word of warning about Apple and Samsung apps:

I have one foot firmly in the iOS world, and the other foot firmly in the Android world. I avoid useing Apple apps, because most Apple apps don't work on Android. It's easier to use the same apps on both iOS and Android.

I recently inherited a Samsung tablet, and I'm avoiding Samsung apps for much the same reasion: Most Samsung apps (if I'm not mastaken) don't work on iOS, or even on non-Samsung Androids!

Hi. Been using computers for 40 plus years now, tablets since the original iPad, iPhones since the original iPhone, and I guess I don't understand the point you are trying to get across. I know that Android apps don't work on iOS and iPad OS devices, and visa versa. Just like Windows apps don't work on Macs, and visa versa. I only use apps from of the applicable app store for the device I'm using. I guess my question is, What is it that you are trying to warn me about?View attachment 363684
The point is that many of Apple's own apps don't have a counterpart in the Google Play Store (e.g., Apple TV), and many of Samsung's apps will only work on Samsung phones (and not iPhones, or even non-Samsung Android phones -- an example of this would be Samsung Notes). This is part of the strategy of trying to lock a user into an ecosystem. So instead of using Samsung Notes or Apple's Notes app for note taking (which only work on Samsung devices or iPhones, respectively), it's better to use something that's platform-agnostic, like Google Keep.

Yes, I got that iOS/iPad OS specific system apps like Notes, Photos, App Store, Calendar, etc. can't be used outside the OS it was intended for. I have had no trouble finding a large majority of the 3rd party apps I use on my iPad and iPhone though. Don't fool yourself, Android apps and app development have traveled a long road and greatly advanced, just like iOS/iPad OS. Google Play by itself has made 47-48 billion US$ a year for the last few years...which is nothing to sneeze at. I know the app store makes more, but that is irrelevant when the competing app store is doing about 50 billion a year.
You're correct -- since the Play Store has become more successful over the years, developers have realized it's important to make their apps available in both major app stores. In the bad old days, it wasn't unusual for really popular apps or games to be exclusively on iOS, but that's rarely the case now.

Yep. Google Maps, for example, works on both Android and iOS. So, I have no reason to bother with the iOS-only Apple Maps.
