Defy port coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From DXC:

MIUI is a rom developed professionally by a group of people in China (it's actually their full time job). MIUI.us is an unaffiliated group of people in the US who translate the rom to English and release it. However, the rom is still only available for whats called 'supported devices.' The Droid X, being a CDMA phone based primarily in the US, is not a supported device. So what we do is take the MIUI.us translated version of the rom for a supported device that closely resembles the Droid X and port it for the Droid X. Up to this point, we've been using the Milestone, which is essentially just a Droid 1 with GSM support marketed for overseas. The Milestone is reaching the end of its life, so we'll be switching to the newer better Defy as our base to port from. At first, this could create some new bugs, but it will end up faster and more stable in the end.

Jeez how much more stable and faster can we get,lol

There's hope that 720hd and call recording will work on this port. (720hd video would be a tall order seeing that cm7 hasn't done it but call recording would be a bonus)

Very true. I am back on 1923, too many reboots and freezes on 1930. But nnow I had to login to a google account I never use(except to get a fb acct i never use) because my password for mmy normal account I always used isnt being accepted. So no contacts and ppl are texting me, who knows who it is,lol

@jerseyboy. Dude! I forgot where my miui backups are..can u help a brother out.

To brush is to flash. So, thanks to DXC go ahead and "brush" our new Defy based MIUI ROM. It has arrived...

http://forums.miui.us/showthread.php?7696-ROM-MIUI.us-DefX-1.10.7

And follow the instructions to a T. You can report bugs in that thread alone as there will be some.

UPDATE @ 1300HRS EST- The update has been pulled so the camera bug can be a permanent fix. Yes the OG camera bug from the froyo build. So give it some time and keep checking the thread, maybe closer to evening.

UPDATE TIME- The update is LIVE, download here...http://forums.miui.us/showthread.php?7696-ROM-MIUI.us-DefX-1.10.7
Make sure you follow the instructions given by DXC

I can't wait to update this tomorrow. Can anyone confirm that v6, Jakebites and other mods still work?

V6 worked no problems. For some reason Jakes script wont run. It just loads on screen then nothing happens. I extract it using Root Explorer, then Script Manager to the extracted location, long press and select Open As script/executable run as root is checked and Run(superuser granted) and all I get is..
# '/mnt/sdcard/extracted/JakebitesModv12-GB'
It says in red above Running root mode and in green Exit Code 0
I am missing a step

See I installed by flashing it with data and system mounted and it runs fine. just has access restricted for all the files it is trying to modify. Same with v6, it acts like it is working but there are permissions errors. I have just been using the v6 that comes with jakebites, maybe I will the seperate package.

Edit: the independent v6 install worked fine. Still not a ton of luck with jakebites. the governor change worked without any trouble but the overclocking and other mods didn't work at all.

Edited again....

Herp derp, forgot su before trying jakebites... like 10 times in a row. its all working flawless for me right now, both jakebites and v6. I'm using jakebites mods v12- GB if that helps anyone.

Nice, had some reservations on this, being on the defy build but it still is Gingerbread so it should work, thanks again, I'll flash this in a bit.

BootMenu

DuDes! I just found the BootMenu on this thing and it's CRAZY... I don't even know how to use it but I'm picking peoples brains out there, seems like it's a work in progress to work like the newly introduced BOOTMANAGER app. Except the BootMenu when done will be off the internal memory instead of the SD card which Bottmanager uses (I hope I got tht right) Anyway, take a peak at this, those on the new DEFY MIUI Build ..

reboot your phone and during reboot look for the blue light,....look for the blue light... press volume down. thats it, your in bootmenu!

EDIT: you can get into clockwork by chosing +Recovery/Latest Recovery)

or the cat.jpeg hack in terminal emulator

I used the recovery thing when I messed up the install a little. It is pretty nice. Looks like it will be expanded soon as well. It is nice to be able to boot into any recovery even if you end up in a Bootloop
