AC Question

So a friend of mine has a Nexus 6 on Verizon. Everything's stock, including using stock apps. They love taking pictures on their phone, then sending them via MMS to others. The pictures on their phone are JPG, but when they send them out, the recipients get MP4s. But occasionally they do receive as JPG. Much to the distress of my friend, I found myself facing 65 MP4s. Luckily, I knew they were really JPGs, so I opened terminal and took care of that (I was lazy and didn't want to manually edit 65 files). Anyway, my question is: Why would the pictures 'convert' to MP4 simply by texting them? I should emphasize that sometimes they do come out as images and other times not. Try as I might, I can't replicate the issue (and I've tried other Nexus 6's on Verizon as well).

I would try to restart in safe mode to see if you still have the same problem
