I am using an at&t s3 nonrooted with the stock messaging app and it for some reason has stopped compressing picture messages. Is there any way of fixing the issue?

Are you actually taking high quality pictures, or have you lowered the resolution? If the pictures are small enough it won't need to compress them.
Are the MMS actually sending, or giving you an error when you try to send?

I am taking high quality. The message that the recipient gets is this.
One or more of the message components have been deleted by MMS Adaptation. Either the message was too large or the components were unsuitable for your handset.

Is this just one recipient or everyone that you send MMS to?
If just one - is this person on an iPhone?
Do the MMS look normal on your phone?
Does this happen with just one picture attached, or multiple pictures?
Have you tried something simple? For example, try sending a screenshot as an attachment just to see if that goes through.

The two phones I've tried sending to are both S3s. These are single item messages. When I attach the picture I get the converting to MMS but not the this is to large so it will be compressed message.

I am having the same issue with my at&t s4 and I have tried sending pics small and large and to3 different types of phones including s4 active, iPhone 3, and iPhone 4...

The best solution is to use The Cloud. The MMS system is very antiquated and file size limits are set by your service provider. Upload the Pics/Vids to The Cloud and text a link for the receiver to view or download them.

I have contacted ATT about this numerous times but they play dumb and say everything is fine. This started over the summer with ATT. Send the same exact picture via MMS to another carrier like Verizon or Sprint and they will get the picture fine. Send the picture to an ATT customer and they will get the error message

I wish that ATT would stop BSing and just admit that they are restricting pictures being sent via MMS to save data.

This started happening to me on my s7 when sending msgs to an iphone after I updated yesterday. I turned off advanced messaging and it started working again. I don't like read receipts anyway. Just figured I'd throw this at the wall & see if it sticks. Good luck.

I think I get the same where someone sends me a picture they just took and my phone requires me to download it and I can't for some reason.

This happens to me sometimes as well. This typically occurs when I receive a picture in an area with a poor signal.
